FIRST Third Faculty and Staff
Terri is passionate about young people and their families, and loves the church. No really! She's our Associate Professor and teaches with an eye toward developing leaders and leading change. She also serves as Director of the Center for First Third Ministry and hopes to help ministry leaders create environments that cultivate a faith that matters. Growing up in southern California, Terri discovered her love for the city, cultural diversity and the beach. You can usually find Terri running or biking the streets of Minneapolis/St. Paul, or wherever she happens to be. When not moving, she's watching a movie with her husband or traveling with her two young adult daughters.
Andy teaches classes on youth ministry, young adults, family, church, and culture (all with a deep theological bent). He is the Olson Baalson Associate Professor of Youth and Family Ministry and has lately been thinking and writing on issues of pastoral and practical theology. Andy has written a number of books and have given lectures and presentations across the country and globe both to church groups, youth workers, and academic communities. He lives in St. Paul, his wife Kara is a Presbyterian minister and they have two kids (Owen and Maisy) and two dogs. When Andy's not teaching and writing, he watches a ton of TV and movies and he is a huge Twins and Gopher hockey fan. Connect with Andy on his blog or Twitter.
Rev. Tim Coltvet is the Coordinator of Contextual Learning and Coaching for the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Master's degree at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. He is a pastor who loves his call to walk alongside seminary students as they are learning in context. He has served at two vibrant ELCA parishes in the Twin Cities and enjoys helping congregations shape Children, Youth, and Family Ministries.
Nancy Going is a life-long youth minister, who loves Jesus, other people learning to love Jesus, her husband Art Going, and the two new families that are her kids and grandkids. She works for Luther as Director of the CYF Distributed Learning (distance) program and tends lots of Center for First Third projects. And she does that from Louisville Ky. Amazing, but it works. Nancy eats up all things creative, from ideas, to people, to great design of any kind. Connect with Nancy on Facebook or Twitter.
